30/01/2007 New NZ Coins and their Obstruction Risk Like all coins, the new NZ coins have the potential to cause obstruction if swallowed. While the old 20 and 50 cent coins were less likely to be swallowed because of their size, it appears the smaller and lighter new coins are being swallowed more frequently, requiring removal.

Please encourage your children not to put coins in their mouth.
