24/07/2009 Chlorine Leak Hospitalises One
One person has been taken to hospital and 50 others evacuated from the Takapuna Aquatic Centre following a chlorine leak last week.
Chlorine based powders and liquids are used as disinfectants in pools and household bleaches.
When inhaled, chlorine is highly irritating and can be corrosive, causing coughing, chest pain, difficulty breathing and burns.
